I've moved a lot since I left the military – Orlando, Los Angeles, New York, Richmond – and during COVID, I started to think in “chunks” of time.

I used Deployments and TDYs as the framework for it which felt entirely accidental, but once the idea grabbed me, it made total sense that it did.

I started viewing each job and each project and each city I lived in – depending on the length of commitment – as either a deployment or a TDY.

It kept me from getting overwhelmed, but more importantly it showed me that the initial transition from service to civilian is simply the first in an ongoing series of transitions as we move forward through our civilian lives and career(s).

This week, we're going to explore why our WHERE is so much more important than our WHAT.

Terminal leave is too late. Do the work that's right in front of you, and see what happens.
